Forward-thinking Cardiff embrace new ‘Smart’ terminals from METRIC

Nov 16, 2016 | Parking

The capital city of Wales, Cardiff, has recently embraced new smart technology to continue their roll-out of smart systems in the city. The new parking terminals, supplied by METRIC, include contactless payment acceptance and HD video screens for playing media to their citizens.

The large installation of Elite LS parking terminals across the city’s on-street locations , have been supplied in the authority’s trademark turquoise colour,  will make paying for parking quicker and simpler with the addition of a contactless payment device which also accept Apple Pay. Clear instructions can be displayed in either Welsh or English on the user information screen, adhering to the Welsh Language Commissioners’ guidelines.

The forward-thinking council have also enhanced their terminals further with video screens. These screens display static or motion video content in high definition and can be used to generate an additional revenue stream by utilising them for advertising space.

“It’s fantastic to see more of our customers realising the potential of new parking technologies. METRIC have invested heavily in providing a PCI Level 1 version 3 fully accredited card payment system, including contactless payments. Contactless is fast becoming mainstream in retail, to be able to offer that same payment option for parking services is the natural progression. We are also seeing more parking operators adopting our video screens as an excellent opportunity to increase the revenue potential of their terminals.”
