Steve started his working life with Metric (then Control Systems Ltd) in the mid 80’s as an apprentice at their production unit in Herne Bay. He moved in to field service as an engineer when he was 21, rising to become a Technical Support engineer. During this time he built strong relationships with his customers some of whom are still within the industry today. During his time in the field he provided support to both national and international customers, travelling as far Argentina.

In his early 30’s Steve moved in to service management where he was pivotal in the successful trails of ‘pay before you board’ solution Metric supplied to London Buses (LBSL). This trail led to the setting up one of the largest single contracts Metric have had in which was the Service Manager, providing at its peak 1250 machines across London operating a complete turnkey contract providing 24/7 364 day a year support with a 1 hour response time with a dedicated team of 40 engineers.

After 12 years working solely on the LBSL contract he moved in to regional service management within Metric’s parking operation. He rose to become the Head of Field Service a role he did for 5 years, before his recent move in to his new role of Head of Service Sales.
